Army Commander General Michel Sleiman said that the army is gaining strength "after its baptism by the blood of its martyrs, who fell during the 2006 war and last summer's confrontations with terrorism."
During a visit to the army's special forces training camp at Roumieh in Mount Lebanon, Sleiman stressed the importance of increasing readiness within the army through ongoing training and building up the common will, which helped the army compensate for shortages in military equipments.
"The army is secure against sectarian tension and division and is still committed to liberating Lebanese soil that is still occupied and supporting Palestinians' right to return," Sleiman said.
"The Israeli enemy and terrorist organizations will not be able to hide behind the Palestinian cause in order to create clashes between the Lebanese army and the Palestinian people," he added.
