In light of the "Israeli" Palestinian swap deal agreed upon by both sides to release some 1027 Palestinians in return for "Israeli" soldier Gilad Shalit, Egypt and "Israel" are also now expected to sign a swap deal of their own.

According to Egyptian media, Ilan Grapel, the "Israeli" spy which is held in Egypt after being caught in light of the popular uprising, is soon to be released in return for some 81 Egyptian prisoners.
The "Israeli" Channel 10 News quoted a report in an Egyptian newspaper saying that the aforementioned agreement is based on negotiations between officials in the US Embassy in Cairo, who affirmed that the US and "Israel" will release Egyptian prisoners if Egypt agrees on releasing Grapel.

Ilan Grapel has been in Egyptian custody since June after being accused of recruiting Egyptians to work for the Mossad, and inciting some Egyptians into causing violence during the anti-regime protests staged in Cairo.
In this context, the release of Grapel represents a sensitive issue for the Egyptians, therefore they demanded the release of 81 Egyptians in return of Grapel's freedom.

Previous reports indicated that the step to release Grapel was only agreed upon after the US administration agreed to increase the political and financial support to Egypt.
