Former Lebanese President Emile Lahoud believed that the status reached by the Arab nation is very unprecedented on the level of lack of solidarity among Arabs, instability, dependency, and dictatorship by foreign powers.

He stressed that the aforementioned problem explains the leanness of the Arab League at the time when it is needed to be above any Arab dispute, so it would be able to face and tackle it in a neutral way, and through possible peaceful means.
In a statement issued from his media bureau, Lahoud affirmed, "What we have witnessed in the Arab Foreign Ministers' conference in Cairo couple of days ago is mainly shameful at all standards. Syria, the core of the Arab identity, is solely challenging conditions that are imposed on it".

In this context, he denounced the implied threat to freeze the membership of Syria at the Arab League; an initiative proposed by some Arabs, who are effected by stability in Syria, or by President Bashar Assad's adopted reform path.
Moreover, President Lahoud condemned the White Paper policy in such situations, stressing that Syria, which is the targeted country, is a neighboring country that shares with Lebanon geographical and historical bonds, in addition to joint interests.

He added that the Arab League is turning a black eye on effective issues, and aims at besieging Syria instead of focusing on the central Arab cause, Palestine. Lahoud noted that the Arab League is also neglecting the current dangerous crossroad where the Palestinian seeks an independent state, in addition to the "Israeli" expansion of its settlement activities.
Furthermore, former Lebanese President Lahoud indicated, "The time has come for the Arab nation to be aware of its own interests and to stop conspiring against itself".
