Hajj Hassan: Ruling group refuses us as partners in the decision-making process for US project will be immobilized
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 14-1-2008
Deputy Hussein Hajj Hassan called on the February 14 forces not to respond to American President George Bush regarding the issue of naturalization and compensation for the Palestinians. He also called on them to refuse what Bush said during his visit to occupied Palestine.
The ruling group's main concern is to face the opposition and thwart initiatives in Lebanon, rather than facing the threats engulfing Lebanon and the region. The disagreement between them and us is over the issue of partnership in the government. They refuse us as partners in the decision-making process. What this group fears is what the US fears, and what this group refuses, the US refuses. When the opposition maintains partnership in decision-making, the American decision will be immobilized, and we all know what America wants in Lebanon, and thus, we know what the February 14 group is supposed to implement.
We know that America wants to render Lebanon an arena to implement its policies in facing the resistance, facing Syria, and facing the resistance in Palestinian and Iran. We in the opposition do not want to be an arena for America or Syria or Iran. We are Iran and Syria's allies in facing the American policies. We are not Iran or Syria's subordinates, but they are America's subordinates.
The February 14 group immobilized the bilateral meeting with Deputy Michel Aoun because they do not want partnership, but they rather want to implement the American policies. This group acts contrary to its words. We in the opposition will not go to the presidential elections without a political solution that secures genuine partnership in the government.
The key to a solution is in their hands unless the American officials ask them to wait for some regional developments before reaching a settlement in Lebanon. If this is what they are waiting for, we want to tell them that the American project is paralyzed and will fall down one day. We and our allies will topple the American project as we did many times before. Our hands are extended toward a solution, but eventually, they are responsible for immobilizing the solutions. In case of any repercussions, they are to be held responsible. Let us wait for the coming days to see what happens.
