Salehi Visits Turkey, Meets Officials to Tackle Developments

Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi went to Turkey for a one-day official visit on Friday, to meet with Turkish officials including Turkish President Abdallah Gul, Prime Minister Recep Tayyeb Erdogan, and Foreign Minister Ahmad Davutoglu.
Both sides tackled recent developments on the regional and international levels, in addition to bilateral relations.
In this context, at a joint press conference with Minister Salehi, Turkish Foreign Minister Davutoglu indicated that the latest US scheme, accusing Iran of being involved in plotting to kill Saudi Ambassador to the US, lacks evidence.
Davutoglu affirmed that Turkey does not believe that Iran would engage in such acts, indicating his country's willingness to help mediate between Iran and the US to resolve this issue.
On his part, Turkish President Abdallah Gul praised Salehi's visit to Turkey, affirming that bilateral ties between both countries are sincere and friendly as always.
Moreover, the Turkish President highlighted the importance of enhancing Tehran-Ankara relations, and removing obstacles standing in the way of economic ties.
On this level, Iranian Foreign minister noted that his visit to Turkey was scheduled for another time. However, due to the recent terrorist attack in Turkey, Salehi's visit was brought forward to express the Iranian government and nation's condolences over the incident that caused death and injury among Turkish citizens.
He also expressed hope that both countries would be capable of removing all obstacles standing in the way of developing bilateral economic relations.
Minister Salehi also met with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyeb Erdogan, and discussed the Kurdish militancy presence, where it represents a common problem for both Tehran and Ankara.
