During a World Economic Forum held in Jordan, the US Senator John McCain raised the prospect of a possible military intervention in Syria, claiming the US wants to protect lives, AFP reported.

"Now that the military operations in Libya are ending, there will be renewed focus on what practical military operations might be considered to protect civilian lives in Syria", McCain stated.
Although it was clear that the US-led NATO intervention in Libya only caused an increase in innocent death toll, the US still believes that armed interferences would be the only way into solving disputes.

"There are even growing calls among the opposition for some foreign military intervention. We hear these please for assistance", he further indicated.
Furthermore, he warned of so-called dark forces in the region, with reference to Iran, saying that it has worked on hijacking the promise of what many are calling the Arab Spring.

In fact, Iran was one of the first regional countries to support the pro-democracy revolutions in the Arab region, urging all countries to seek reform and resolve their own disputes without any foreign interference.
