Bahraini Police Attack Mourners, BHRW Condemns Brutal Attacks
Local Editor
Pro-regime Bahraini Police have attacked mourners in a religious ceremony in the northern city of Muharraq, injuring a number of people.
Clashes erupted after the thugs began to throw stones at the mourners as well as damaging their cars.
Several people were reportedly injured after stones hit their heads and faces.
The Saudi-backed Bahraini security forces later arrived at the scene and fired tear gas and sound bombs in an attempt to disperse the crowds.
The violence comes as anti-regime protests continue against the al-Khalifa rule across the Gulf sheikdom.
Meanwhile, Bahrain's human rights organizations, speaking up for a better Bahrain, has re-iterated the need to put right any human rights violations in the Kingdom, if the country is to retain its reputation and standing in the international business community for the future.
For his part, the Secretary General of Bahrain Human Rights Watch Society (BHRWS), and Director General of Gulf European Centre for Human Rights, (GECHR) Faisal Fullad stressed that "human rights policies should be the back bone of this country."
"We urge the leadership to offer such privilege to all citizens of Bahrain, setting the Kingdom apart from other nations," he said.
