Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast stated that the Palestinian membership at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) stands as a symbol for international support of the Palestinians' rights.

Speaking to the press in his weekly press conference, Mehmanparast criticized the US and some European countries for opposing Palestine's admission to the UNESCO.
"The US should know that its blind and one-sided support for the Zionist regime is no longer important for the world public opinion", he added.

After 107 of the 173 UNESCO members in attendance voted in favor of Palestine's accession into their agency, Palestine was granted full membership.
On another hand, regarding the Iranian pilgrims who were returned home after Saudi authorities said they had fake visas, Iranian Foreign Minister Spokesman stressed that this issue is under examination.

He also said that not only Iranian pilgrims were deported, but people of other nationalities had the similar experience.
Moreover, Mehmanparast also recalled the latest US scheme, accusing Iran of plotting the assassination of Saudi Ambassador in Washington. He went on to say that it is the Iranian nation's right to seek an official apology from the US authorities over such allegations.
