Hague: UK Opposes “Israeli” Decision to Expand Settlements
"Israeli" War Minister Ehud Barak went to the UK on Thursday on an official visit, during which he met with British Foreign Minister William Hague.
After the meeting, Minister Hague strictly condemned the "Israeli" decision to expand its settlements in the occupied territories.
On this level, he indicated UK's "unequivocal condemnation" of the announcement of 2000 more settlement units in east al-Quds (Jerusalem), and the illegal settlements if Efrat and Maale Adumim, in addition to threats to withhold Palestinian tax revenues.
"These steps undermine efforts to achieve peace, and increase "Israel's" isolation at a time of enormous change in the Middle East region when we need to work together on share concerns such as the appalling situation in Syria and the threat posed by Iran's nuclear program", the British Foreign Minister said.
He further added, "I urged "Israel" to revoke the plan for new settlements and to avoid further provocative steps which only make more difficult the Quartet's attempt to facilitate a return to talks."
Despite international condemnation, "Israel" has announced it would expand its settlement activities in the occupied city of al-Quds (Jerusalem). However, condemnation is not enough to stop the "Israelis" from resuming their violations against Palestinian rights and sanctities.
