Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem sent letters to Foreign Ministers of Russia, China, India, South Africa, Brazil, and chairman and members of the Arab Ministerial Committees, the Arab League Secretary General, the UN Secretary General, and President of the UN Security Council condemning US interference in Syria's affairs.

"After Syria took an important step to stop violence by calling upon armed men to hand down their weapons and get released soon, Syria was surprised by the statement of the US Department of State's spokeswoman calling upon the gunmen not to hand over their weapons to the Syrian government," the letter said.
Considering US call "a direct involvement in the sedition and violence in Syria which caused the Syrian army, police and civilians to lose innocent victims, al-Moallem said that his country considers the US call an encouragement to the armed groups to continue their criminal acts against the Syrian people and state."

"This negates the claims of peaceful protests and shows a desire to obstruct the initiative and efforts of the AL which are aimed at ending Syrian crisis and restoring security and stability," he added.

Al-Moallem briefed the foreign ministers that the Syrian government has reacted positively to the AL initiative and is exerting efforts to implement it, hoping they would be informed of the US involvement in the bloody events in Syria and condemn it, and exert every effort to put an end to such intervention.
