Syria Releases 1,180 Detainees, Not to Participate in Rabat’s Meetings
1,180 Syrian detainees who are involved in the recent events in Syria and didn't commit murder were released Tuesday.
Similarly, 553 detainees involved in the events were released on November 5th on occasion of Eid al-Adha.
Meanwhile, an official source in the Foreign and Expatriates Ministry Syria decided not to participate in the ministerial meeting of the Arab League (AL) Council and the Arab-Turkish cooperation meeting, due on Wednesday in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
The source explained that "after the AL's decision to suspend Syria's membership in the League on November 12and in light of the statements issued by officials in Morocco which we were officially informed of, Syria decided not to participate in those two meetings."
"Syria, whose permanent concern was the protection and preservation of the present and the future of the Arab Nation and keeping away the threats against its decisive causes, will continue playing its pan-Arab role in spite of all the attempts aimed at undermining the joint Arab action and its institutions," the source concluded.
