Sheik Qawouk: The pro-government party does not want a solution
Source: Nowlebanon, 16-1-2008
Hizbullah official in South Lebanon, Sheikh Nabil Qawouk, said that the pro-government party does not want to solve the crisis in Lebanon because the US wants to prolong it so the failure of the Arab initiative will lead to internationalization.
"Thus, the US administration will be able to blackmail more than one local and regional party, and President Bush will be able to invest this in the US presidential elections, " he said.
Qawouk said that Hizbullah is against the internationalization of the Lebanese crisis because it will eliminate the Taif Agreement, unleash the hand of foreign tutelage over Lebanon, and threaten national unity and principles.
"We at the Lebanese national opposition are insisting on achieving national participation," Qawouk noted.
"We are very near freeing Lebanon from foreign tutelage and saving the country from the hegemony that is influencing it," he said.
