Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast stated on Thursday his country's criticism of the Saudi-backed Bahraini regime's "organized" attacks against anti-government protesters. Regime forces have also destructed many mosques, and desecrated other sacred places in Bahrain.

In a statement issued, Mehmanparast voiced disappointment over the international community's silence regarding the human rights violations of the Bahraini government's crackdown on unarmed protesters.

This comes after an intensified attack on Bahrainis mourning the memory of Imam Hussein's martyrdom, where police troops fired tears gas, live rounds, and metallic sticks at protesters, to prevent them from reaching the Pearl Square in the capital Manama.

"It was expected that the Bahraini authorities would reconsider their treatment of the oppressed people of that country after the publication of the fact-finding committee report and based on the promises made to the nation", the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman iterated.
He further hoped that the Bahraini government would take "confidence-building" measures, such as expelling the foreign forces from the country, releasing political prisoners, and immediately halting the suppression of protesters, in order to end the crisis.

Previously on November 23, the Bahrain Independent Commission of Inquiry (BICI) published a report in which it accused the al-Khalifa ruling family of using "excessive force, including the extraction of forces confession, against detainees".

Moreover, the independent commission denounced the regime's ugly practices against religious sites, where it destroyed at least 30 places of worship. Also, it criticized the regime's dismissal of some 2000 public sector workers because of their religious or political approaches.
