Franjiyeh: Ghoson Info. on al-Qaida Serious, Rely on Intelligence Investigations

In response to the campaign launched against Lebanese Defense Minister Fayez Ghoson, over his recent statement about al-Qaida presence through the Lebanese-Syrian borders, Head of al-Marada Movement Suleiman Franjiyeh believed that the "said attack on Ghoson actually targets his political approach".
"Terrorists are entering through border crossings under the pretext of being Syrian refugees", Franjiyeh clarified in a press conference held at his residence in Bnashei.
"Both, President Michel Suleiman and Prime Minister Najib Mikati, know that Ghoson's information on al-Qaida is serious and true", Franjiyeh stated. He further urged Minister Ghoson to reveal more information in which he relied on military and intelligence reports to figure out.
Moreover, the former Minister affirmed that the Lebanese army is the sole target of the campaign on the Defense Minister, indicating that the "cabinet has adopted all information about al-Qaida presence in Lebanon".
On another hand, Head of al-Marada Movement criticized the March 14 camp's attempts to turn the Ersal area into a "Sunni" area, to which the Army wants entry.
"It was Head of the Future Movement Saad Hariri who said that "we need an isolated zone with a Turkish Army, and another with a Lebanese one", Franjiyeh stated.
"Our information indicate that the US seeks an anti-Syria isolated area in Lebanon", Franjiyh stressed, believing that the requested isolated area is needed to target Syria.
Former Minister Franjiyeh demanded the Army Commandment to reveal the available data in order to identify who is causing the turmoil on this Syrian-Lebanese borders.
Also, Franjiyeh neglected claims that there is "a targeted sect in Lebanon", confirming that there are interests in "intimidating the Sunni sect in order to control it".
Furthermore, Head of al-Marada Movement defended his relation with the Syrian regime, stressing that he supports it but reiterated he will not do anything to harm Lebanon.
"We believe in good relations with Syria, but we don't say that it is our mentor", Franjiyeh went on to say.
In comparison, Franjiyeh stated that what Minister Ghoson is facing today is similar to what he himself had to deal with when he was Interior Minister, at the time when later Prime Minister Rafik Hariri was assassinated.
