Prominent Bahraini human rights activist, Nabil Rajab, told Amnesty International how he was injured while the Saudi-backed security forces attacked peaceful protesters in the capital Manama on last Friday evening.

Rajab, who is the director of the Bahrain Centre for Human Rights, was hospitalized after a group of police officers punched him and used sticks to hit him in the face, back and elsewhere.

The attack on Nabil Rajab occurred after the regime forces fired tear gas at protesters marching and calling for the release of all political detainees.
"I fell on the ground by they continued to beat me - they even stamped on me and kicked me", Nabil Rajab affirmed to Amnesty International after treating his injuries late that night.

"This went for a few minutes and then a senior officer recognized me and intervened. He asked the others to stop and he helped me. I was taken to Salmaniya Hospital, where I was treated for about three hours. I have a lot of bruises on my back and on my face", Rajab also added.
Highlighting the brutality of the attack, Rajab stressed that he intends to file an official complaint about this assault against him, which is also reaching many anti-regime Bahrainis.
