The world has come to a consensus that "economy" is actually the main screw driver that is capable of monitoring all aspects of a society; especially politics.

Although Lebanon is one of the world's smallest countries, it has without doubt passed through multiple dilemmas which were toughly surpassed. In light of the current regional blunder, especially the crisis sweeping across Syria, Lebanon was for sure affected, but able to get a grip from getting into any trouble, although the livelihood issue was one of its main concerns.

The Lebanese dailies highlighted the wages issues, in addition to other regional affairs which have become a major matter of attention in Lebanon.

Wages File Not Complete?

While the Lebanese are still waiting for an act of faith from the Lebanese government on the level of wages, as-Safir Lebanese daily indicated that this file isn't finalized yet, because it is related to the "transportation and scholarship" fees file as well.
However, the daily indicated that Minister of Labor Charbel Nahhas will only be signing and approving the wages draft law, in order to prevent signing any illegal decree.

Nahhas believes that he won't sign any decrees on the transportation and scholarship fees because the mechanism upon which they were sought is illegal, and therefore it requires amendment.

On this level, Nahhas put himself in a very critical yet heroic position.

Because he decided to move on to serve the welfare of the Lebanese people, the Lebanese newspaper added that the government is before three options: amending the decree and find legal solutions for the transportation fees, fire Minister Nahhas for not signing the decree, or accepting Nahhas' resignation.
However, analysts in Lebanon do not believe that having Nahhas outside the government is the best choice, because he has for long served for the best of the Lebanese.

Lebanese Fingerprint Data in "Israel"

While one minister is busy dealing with the demands of the people, others are tackling another "political-security" exposure indicating that the "fingerprint data" of more than 4 million Lebanese people are apparently purchased by a private French company, which happens to be partners with an "Israeli" military association.

On this level, as-Safir newspaper reported that although Interior Minister Marwan Charbel affirmed that these data are the property of the Interior Ministry, that does not exclude the possibility of having them possessed by the "Israeli" enemy.
Minister Charbel stated that the suitable measures will be done in order to clear the image in this regard, especially that the partnership between the French and "Israeli" companies has just been revealed.

Berri Urges Oil File Progress

Depite all problems hovering in its surrounding sphere, Lebanon has found its "black gold" which is capable of solving all its "economic" problems, and therefore lessen political repercussions.

On this level, Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri has urged the Lebanese government to grant their full priority to appointing an Oil Management committee in order to follow up the oil decrees to be issued. Moreover, in an interview with an-Nahar daily, Berri also indicated the importance of hastening the appointment measures in all state institutions, especially in the fresh oil sector. Speaker Berri clarified that "as soon as the oil sector appointments are assigned, the sooner the oil and natural gas drilling would be launched, especially after the government issued the oil law implementation decrees".

Syria... Assad Confident of Crisis' End

Since Lebanon is the most country to be directly affected by the situation in Syria, the latter is among the major topics tackled in all political rounds in Lebanon and outside.
In this context, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad received on Thursday a delegation from the Popular Arab initiative to condemn the foreign interference in Syria and support dialogue and reform, whose members stressed on their supporting position with Syria and its people against the scheme aiming at serving the Zionsit enemy.

On his part, President al-Assad iterated that the support of the Arab nations and all national forces, enhance Syria's immunity, and its faith in a peaceful future.
The Syrian President furthermore noted, "The Syrian nation, which hangs on to its unity and Arabism, and is aware of what is being schemed against its country and its security, is capable of overcoming the current circumstances, and building the strong and noble Syria".

AL to Extend Mission?

In this context, President al-Assad seems to be very confident, while the Arab League observer mission is still continuing its fact-findings in the Syrian territories.

Al-Akhbar newspaper reported that head of the AL mission to Syria, Mohammad al-Dabi arrived in Cairo Thursday, in order to organize the findings and present his report on the situation in Syria, to the Arab Ministerial Committee, scheduled to convene on Sunday.
However, the AL seems to be rather "less confident" than al-Assad is in this regard. Sources close to the AL have indicated that the Arabs are "confused... they are out of options".

On another hand, the mission's task might not be over with this report, for other sources revealed that al-Dabi had suggested that the AL extends the mission in Syria, especially that the Syrian authorities have been highly cooperative at all levels.

The very old friends, Syria and Lebanon, are both witnessing local and surrounding problems, and because each is inevitably a victim of the other's tumble, both are constant supporters that will not abandon each other.
