Berri Seeks Exit to Appointments, Lebanon Faces Shrapnel of Syrian Crisis
Lebanon has for some time now escaped its own blunders in an exquisite manner, giving itself, and its people space to give their country a chance to be defended and praised.
Therefore the Lebanese were keen to maintain their healthy reputation that illustrates kindness, loyalty, hospitality, and most of all patriotism. This patriotism helps the people bond with other nations, like the Syrian nation, which has for long stood beside Lebanon in all its wars and dilemmas. "All in one hand" and "unity" against the enemy is the dream of every Lebanese person who does not get driven away by any extreme political affiliations.
Today's Lebanese "unity" government is trying so hard to actually achieve what the previous government couldn't, and for the first time in years, an actually concern of the livelihood situation is being enrolled and implemented.
The Lebanese dailies tackled the governmental developmental proceedings, in addition to other local and regional affairs.
Appointments... Activation When?
On its part, leading as-Safir daily stated in its editorial that PM Najib Mikati's government is facing a not so chronic political crisis, entitled "appointments"; however its actual indication is for too simpler, whether related to politics, administration, economy or so on.
Berri to the Rescue... as Always
While the recent dispute that took place between the PM and the Change and Reform bloc ministers is still making the newspapers' headlines, Lebanese Speaker Nabih Berri confirmed that he has confidence in both of them and their concern on the government's course of action, al-Nahar daily reported.

In an interview with the said daily, Berri stressed on the importance of containing any dispute "inside the government", in order to maintain its interests and those of the Lebanese people at first.
On the same level, sources close to Lebanon's Parliament Speaker stated to al-Akhbar newspaper that Berri is waiting until the government members are done with their verbal and media disputes, before he "as usual", seeks an exit for the current situation, although the crisis is still under control.
On his part, PM Mikati asserted to the same newspaper that he is not in a hurry to settle on the appointments as long as they turn out to be "productive", in light of the current disagreement on some proposed names to fill in administrative positions.
Syria Still in the Line of Fire... Lebanon Faces Shrapnel
On the Syrian level, and after almost a year since the eruption of Syria's unrest, the world reached a consensus that the Syrian situation is far more complicated than what the Western powers or expected, for according to as-Safir newspaper, not direct military interference or ousting the regime by force would do the trick.
This opinion is seconded by Ed Hussein, who writes for the "Atlantic" US Magazine, in which he stated that the foreign interference scenario in Syria would only lead to increasing violence, and will not put an end for it as some are hoping.
Moreover, the writer added, according to as-Safir newspaper, that what is happening in Syria does not only stop there, but its repercussions spread. "The social and sectarian thread in Syria entangles with many of those in neighboring countries including Turkey, Iran, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and "Israel"", Ed Hussein indicated.
He also warned that as Lebanon became a battle field in 1982 for Syria and the "Israeli" enemy, the US interference in Syria will once against cause a joint strife to erupt.
Also, Lebanese daily as-Safir added that Lebanon seems to be the most effected from the foreign interference, and the worst case scenario, is a possibility of an "al-Qaida" spread inside Syria, and therefore threat of the Lebanese lives.
Russia's VETO lessens Anti-Syria Rhetoric
Meanwhile, some Arab and Western leaders are still seeking internationalization of the Syrian crisis. However, after Russia deliberately stated it will use its right to veto on any anti-Syria resolution at the UN Security Council, the intensity of the draft resolution was lessened.
Among the amendments on the draft resolution were annulling the paragraph that states the "importance of handing the Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's authorities to his vice".
The amendments also included the proposed sanctions on importing weapons into Damascus, and this comes in an attempt to prevent a Russian veto.
