Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Rules Out Any Military Intervention in Syria

Russian Ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin announced that "Moscow is making efforts to avoid a great war in the region, because it will target everyone."
Unveiling that "talks are being held between Russia on the one hand and Iran and Turkey on the other in order to resolve the Syrian situation," Zasypkin added that "Syria will not be making any compromise and underscored the importance of Lebanon's stability, because it is necessary."
In an interview with al-Noor station, the Russian ambassador asserted that "his country rejects attempts that seek to put pressure on one of the two sides involved in the Syrian crisis and supports a unilateral decision on the Syrian situation."
He further ruled out "any military intervention in Syria," calling for "strengthening the importance of fortifying the internal Syrian arena to prevent any civil war."
Asked about allegations claiming that Russia is providing the Syrian regime with weapons, Zasypkin said that his country has "military agreements with Syria and cannot violate them."
The Russian envoy described Syrian-Russian ties as "friendly," but said that Syrian opposition's stance "is negative."
He called on the opposition "to accept dialogue without pre-conditions."
