Bahraini Detainees Continue Hunger Strike, Prison Authorities Neglect Them
On their 6th day of hunger strike, activists and hundreds of prisoners at the central prison of Bahrain and some other detention centers demand the end to human rights violations in Bahrain and immediate release of all prisoners of conscience.
As the news about deteriorated health of the activists and prisoners are very worrying, it is worth mentioning that the prison clinics are not prepared to deal with hundreds of prisoners at same time.
News agencies reported that Human Rights Defender Abdul Hadi al-Khawaja was hospitalized after a drop in his sugar level and blood pressure.
On 31 Jan, he was put on IV to pump up his sugar level and then he was sent back to prison where he continues hunger strike.
Dr Abduljalil al-Singace announced from his prison that he and the other detained opposition leaders are still on hunger strike despite suffering and other detainees from blood pressure and hypoglycemia.
However, the Bahraini prison authorities showed carelessness regarding hospitalizing the activists.
Reflecting that the situation is very critical, al-Singace clarified that the "clinic has too many detainees, and it's not equipped to deal with them."
Many prisoners are still not able to contact their families and there is no news about them since the start of the hunger strike.
