President Suleiman: Lebanon’s Stance Always Served the Arab Consensus

Lebanese President Michel Suleiman confirmed that "Lebanon will attend the upcoming Arab Summit meeting, and will adopt the appropriate stance in accordance to the adopted resolution, with what integrates Lebanon's interests and those of Syria and the Arab solidarity".
"Lebanon's stance has always been in favor of the Arab consensus", President Suleiman stressed.

In a joint press conference after meeting his Romanian counterpart Traian Băsescu in Bucharest, President Suleiman affirmed, "Dialogue with conflict-worn countries is the best way to reach the sought results".
"Lebanon has been implementing democracy for decades now. [...] We demanded the Syrian authorities to interact with the first Arab initiative to achieve democracy and the Syrian nation's demands and expectations. At the same time, no matter what Lebanon's opinion was in the Arab League, it is committed to the League's resolutions, and attending all meetings stands as pure evidence to this commitment", the Lebanese President asserted.

Moreover, President Suleiman stressed that Lebanon "continues to play its role as a messenger for dialogue between communities, with what complies with its nature its people's structure; as its major foundation is dialogue".
Also, President Suleiman expressed that during his meeting with his Romanian counterpart, they discussed how to enhance bilateral friendship and relations stating, "We discussed what the Arab region is witnessing of historic transitions, and what the world is facing of challenges, among which are resulted by the global financial crisis".

"I thanked the Romanian president for his country's stance in supporting Lebanon, its sovereignty, and independence", President Suleiman added.
President Suleiman also suggested Romanian takes part in the UNIFIL troops operating in South Lebanon, and asked it to pressure "Israel" into implementing resolution 1701.
Furthermore, President Suleiman stressed on the importance of democracy and reaching a peaceful resolution for disputes, seeking a just and inclusive solution for the broad Arab-"Israeli" conflict.

Suleiman announced that a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the Lebanese and Romanian Foreign Ministries, adding that Lebanon and Romania agreed on enhancing scientific, cultural, media, youth, technological and educational cooperation.
