Former Minister Wahhab: The opposition has the right to a 45% share in the government
Source: NowLebanon, 16-01-2008
Former Minister Wiam Wahhab said that the opposition is undertaking extensive consultations over the steps it will take.
"The opposition has made deliberations over participation and the third-plus-one issue," Wahhab said after his visit to ex-Premier Omar Karami.
"They want us to help facilitate the election of a president from within the opposition's share. The opposition has 45% and is ready," Wahhab said.
"This is our right, and neither the Arab League nor Amr Moussa have a say over this right. The opposition considers that it has the right to 45%," he reiterated.
"Moussa did not bring anything new when he first came and will not in his next visit," he said.
Wahhab said that his personal stance is that of the whole opposition. "Some parties within the Arab League have taken sides with the pro-government party," he added.
For his part, ex-PM Karami said that the opposition's next move will not be for a day or two. "It will not be brought to an end unless a radical solution is reached," Karami said.
