Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister reiterates Syrian support for Moussa efforts in Lebanon

Syrian Deputy Foreign Minister Faisal Mekdad reiterated Syria's commitment to the Arab League's proposals.
"Syria is ready to facilitate the efforts made by Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa over implementing the statement made in Cairo," Mekdad said during a visit from Norwegian Foreign Ministry Advisor Sven Sevey.
Arab foreign ministers called last week for the immediate election of Army Commander General Michel Sleiman as president, in addition to the establishment of a nation-unity government and the adoption of a new electoral law.
"Syria is keen on achieving just and comprehensive peace in the region, based on the implementation of international resolutions, especially those of the UN and the Arab initiative for peace and the principle of ‘peace for land'," Mekdad said.
