Berri Expresses Resentment over Sectarian Rhetoric in Parliament Sessions

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri expressed resentment over the sectarian rhetoric mounted in the speeches of some parliament members in the recent accountability sessions.
"This act [sectarian rhetoric] does not suit the representatives of this nation," Berri told an-Nahar daily.
Also, Speaker Berri indicated that some stances drifted away from the principles of the parliamentary work and sophisticated political life which should impose order in the relation among Lebanese officials.
Moreover, Speaker Berri stated that reviving dialogue was highly supported by everyone, despite some conditions set in advance.
Despite his resentment regarding what happened in the discussion sessions, Speaker Berri noticed "there are some positive points which [serve] the interests of all blocs and MPs who agreed on the importance of supporting the Syrian refugees and presenting the needed aid for them."
"It is unacceptable to leave them [Syrian refugees] behind to meet their fate, regardless of the reasons that pushed them into coming to Lebanon," Berri iterated.
Furthermore, Berri added, "Another positive point [in the sessions] was in a consensus among all MPs [agreeing] not to encourage or work on sending weapons to Syria, to refuse military interference, and leave the northern borders and monitoring it for the Lebanese Army; giving it total confidence [in this regard]."
