National Dialogue Launched in Baabda, All Join Except Geagea

The national dialogue is scheduled to be launched at 11:00 am Monday, in presence of all Lebanese parties; except for head of Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, who decided to boycott the national consensus on the dialogue, and preferred to remain solo. Geagea described the dialogue as a "waste of time, and it won't lead to any result."
Today's national dialogue session in the sixth launched by the National Dialogue Committee headed by President Michel Suleiman since his election in 2008, and the thirteenth, summed up with the 7 sessions held in the Parliament headed by Speaker Nabih Berri.
The new presidential appeal for dialogue to discuss the national defense strategy would include the resistance arms' issue and how to positively take advantage of it to defend Lebanon. The convened politicians are expected to answer why, when, how, and when the resistance arms ought to be used.
Also, the dialogue would tackle the Palestinian arms exploited outside the refugee camps, ways of halting its use, and how to manage its presence inside the camps.
Disarmament of weapons present inside Lebanese cities and its surrounding is also one of the titles to be discussed throughout the dialogue.
On this level, sources close to the Lebanese President, informed as-Safir daily that Suleiman will stress the importance of dialogue, after it was proven that no matter how much tension there was it could be solved by all parties sitting at one dialogue table, because their meeting delivers an encouraging and optimistic image to the local and foreign public.
The sources hoped that the dialogue would place all political forces right in front of their responsibilities.
