Former Minister Wahhab: The Arab initiative is over
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 22-1-2008
Former Minister Wiam Wahhab said that Lebanon's current crisis lies in the fact that Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa did not suggest an objective or neutral interpretation of the Arab initiative.
"It only bears the interpretations of some Arab states siding with one faction against another," Wahhab said during his meeting with ex-Premier Salim Hoss.
He also said that the Arab initiative was brought to an end through this erroneous interpretation. "It has no value anymore. Therefore, the situation is open to all possibilities."
"The threat of internationalization is nothing but talk. The repercussions will affect everyone who is betting on its achievement," Wahhab said.
He also said that the opposition is still insisting on having control of 45% of the coming government. "If they still reject this, let them rule alone, and the opposition will take the appropriate measures," Wahhab said. "No one can control the street," he added.
