Berri said he is ready to abide by any consensual Arab decision
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 25-1-2008
Speaker Nabih Berri denied talk of French interference aimed at proposing a new initiative over the present crisis in Lebanon.
Berri said he is still holding on to the Arab initiative and denied any contacts between himself and French Presidential Secretary General Claude Guéant.
"We are still holding to the logical interpretation of the Arab initiative, which is based on the 10-10-10 division of power," Berri told the Lebanese daily As-Safir.
"I have demanded Arab League Secretary General Amr Moussa to give a clear interpretation and suggested that the Arab Ministerial Committee come to Beirut in order to help the Lebanese understand the Arab initiative," Berri said.
"I am ready to abide by any consensus decision made by Arab foreign ministers over the situation in Lebanon, for Lebanon is an Arab country," Berri said.
He also noted the peaceful course of yesterday's strike. "The strike was 100% successful and proved the opposition's concern for civil peace," Berri added.
