Lebanese President Michel Suleiman stressed that "the conferees in the national dialogue adopted two essential views: first, to dissociate Lebanon from the implications of the Syrian crisis and second, to prevent the formation of a buffer zone for the smuggling weapons and militants."

"Monday's session will be the starting point for progress in the discussion of the agenda," the President said as he expressed hope that "progress continues in the coming sessions."
During receiving a European delegation, Suleiman asserted that "to host Syrian refugees in Lebanon is only a humanitarian decision."
On the Lebanese Army's mission, the President said: " Through its unity, the LA preserves the country's unity and civil peace."

"The LA also cooperates with the United Nations Interim Forces in the South to implement UN resolution 1701," he stated.
Suleiman also mentioned that "Lebanon believes in human values, democracy, public freedoms and the renounce of violence and extremism."
The EU Commission confirmed to Lebanese President Michel Suleiman its support for Lebanon in all fields, especially the military.

A delegation of the commission composed of the Foreign Ministers of Sweden, Bulgaria, and Poland, visited Suleiman on Friday at Baabda Presidential Palace.
The commission hailed the President for his ongoing role in disassociating Lebanon from regional developments, particularly the Syrian, and in resuming the national dialogue. It also renewed its keenness on Lebanon's sovereignty, stability and security.

Afterwards, Suleiman received Lebanese Army Chief, General Jean Qahwaji, who briefed the host over the actual security situation in the country.
The President also received the Lebanese Ambassador to Syria, Michel Khoury, who briefed him over the security condition in Syria as well as the bilateral relation.
