Dr. Aharon Ibrahimović, the Director-General of Foreign Affairs, among other eyewitnesses confirmed that the consultant of Lebanese Prime Minister Fouad Saniora, Dr. Rodwan al- Sayid had delivered a lecture at the Herzliya Conference this year, which was held between 20th and 23rd of this month, a conference the Strategy Studies Institute holds every year, headed by Dr. Uzi Arad, in the presence of hundreds of senior researchers, planners, philosophers, current and former ministers, former heads of some European states, together with a group of senior "Israeli" and American administration officials, former and current, as well as a large number of European and American parliamentarians.
The Lebanese expert agreed to speak via satellite on condition of confidentiality.
The American Embassy mediated between the Director-General of the Conference, Uzi Arad and the Lebanese researcher, educated in Islamic law and jurisprudence at Al-Azhar, an expert in the affairs of (so-called) radical Islamic movements, especially Hamas and Hizbullah.
Dr. Rodwan al-Sayid favorably responded to the call made to him by Uzi Arad, to give a talk via satellite from the American Embassy centre in Lebanon to a huge screen in a closed meeting, limited to a number of security and government experts among the influential figures at Herzliya conference for Strategic Studies.
Dr. Rodwan al-Sayid explained to the attendance the main strengths and weaknesses of the (so-called) radical movements and communities in Palestine and Lebanon, calling not to make Ehud Olmert pay the price for the war in July 2006 in light of the Winograd Report, because that will destroy the efforts made by the American Administration through its Lebanese allies to eliminate the effects of Nasrallah's triumph, simply by his survival of the war and his party retaining its weapon. He counted the dangers that may be incurred by "Israel" as it would Lebanon's (unconstitutional) government- representing the Lebanese Cedar Revolution- in case Nasrallah and his party are given a new victory over 'Israel' by removing Olmert.
The Lebanese expert in Islam, Rodwan al-Sayid, known for his proximity to several Gulf government circles, listed before the intelligence audience and through the closed American television circuit, the number of methods employed by his group to eliminate the popular effects of "Israel's" failure and Hizbullah's success in overcoming the "Israeli" assault. He stressed the importance of using the dominant Sunnite element of the Arab world in the media battle, emphasizing the current success of the Hariri movement along with those who support it, with Saudi backing, and a central role played by the Lebanese Sunnite clergymen.
These elements played a key role in thwarting Nasrallah's image in the eyes of the Arab people in all countries, which considers him an Arab hero outmatching in radiance and importance Abdel Nasser. But all that vanished, according to Rodwan al-Sayid, because the Hariri movement professionally and intelligently played the sectarian and denominational string of Sunnis versus Shiite Nasrallah; calling for the same language to be used against Hamas, to be branded by the "Israeli" media as a Shiite tool in Persian Iran's hand, in order to limit Hamas' popular effectiveness by "Israel" and the Palestinian Authority.
