Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Ali Fayyad revealed Monday that the parliamentary subcommittees meeting will be mainly devoted to hear the other team's [March 14's] viewpoint on the combined formulas proposal. [This means to adopt a draft-law that combines the winner-takes-all and proportional representation systems.]
In an interview with as-Safir Lebanese daily, Fayyad urged the other team, which objected the governmental, proportional and Orthodox electoral proposals, to determine whether there is an opportunity to reach an agreement or not.
He further noted that "Hizbullah met with its allies on the Orthodox proposal and left the door open to compromise."
In parallel, Fayyad expressed his surprise that the other side accused Hizbullah of seeking to monopolize and dominate through proportionality or that it refuses division because it rejected to adopt majoritarian within the Orthodox proposal.
"These accusations distort the position of the party," the MP viewed.
He further voiced surprise that some March 14 figures breached the agreement on the secret deliberations of the committee, and stressed Hizbullah's keenness to spread positivity in the discussions.
