Resigned Minister Salloukh: The Arab initiative is a complete solution
Source: Nowlebanon.com, 4-2-2008
Resigned Foreign Minister Fawzi Salloukh stressed on the importance of the Arab initiative on the crisis in Lebanon.
"I hope the Arab League secretary general will resume his efforts in light of his contacts with Lebanese politicians," he said after meeting with his counterpart, Austrian Foreign Minister Ursula Plassnik.
He also expressed his appreciation of the EU foreign ministers' support for the Arab initiative.
"I hope that some other major powers will have a similar stance, rather than a vague one, over the Arab initiative," Salloukh added.
He also noted the ongoing problem of cluster bombs in South Lebanon and "Israel"'s rejection of handling the situation, in spite of the UN's repeated demands.
Salloukh also noted the army's ongoing cooperation with UNIFIL in the South within the framework of UN Security Council Resolution 1701.
