Member of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Hassan Fadlallah reiterated, "Lebanon faces parliamentary trials that are described as crucial since it will determine the authority's path for the next four years."
During a memorial ceremony in the Southern village of Haris, MP Fadlallah pointed out, "Calling on electors to vote and allowing candidates to apply for elections are provocative measures challenging the majority of Lebanese's will of refusing the 60s law."
Moreover, he warned of "attempts to resurrect the 1960s electoral law which is dead," underscoring, "This cannot pass easily outside the framework of the constitution and law. Do you want to hold elections with no law or horizon?"
"Some parties have become an extreme accomplice in the internal crisis while they are required not to have anything to do with it," he added.
"There is one law running its legislative course, which is the Orthodox law, although we rather have Lebanon be based on proportionality and one constituency," Fadlallah stressed.
Furthermore, the MP saw that "There are attempts to impose a new path being dictated from foreign sources, and the US ambassador's statement was clear regarding this issue."
"We bluntly and confidently say that these attempts are delusional; they cannot take the country 60 years back in time," Fadlallah noted.
"Our policy towards security challenges is to let the government avoid any problem; it is responsible for security, the Army, and the security forces," he accentuated.
For his part, member of Development and Liberation Bloc MP Ayoub Hmayed stated, "Imam Mousa al-Sader had always reiterated the basic postulates that Lebanon be under a modern electoral law based on proportionality and that all of Lebanon be one constituency."
"Due to recent events we said and will always say that we are patient in enduring this reality...but we will not compromise Lebanon's stability, political life, or parliamentary elections on time," he added.
