Saheli: 1960s Electoral Law Circumstantial, Legally Annulled

Member of Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc MP Nawwar Saheli accentuated, "The 1960s electoral law, or the Doha law, ratified in 2008 and enforced in 2009, was circumstantial due to a political settlement and was legally annulled ever since its enforcement in 2009."
During a speech he delivered on Teacher's Day, Saheli stated, "Back then, we were not working on a permanent law, and when the issue of emigrants voting was discussed, we had said, ‘We will deliberate this matter in the next law we will hold elections upon in 2013.' Some articles of the 60s law are not enough and impossible to enforce today because we knew it was a temporary law."
Moreover, Saheli pointed out, "Solutions are required; everyone is against the 1960s law but no one suggested a proposal."
He further underscored, "Let us deliberate. Actions must take place, and whoever wants elections on time must do something or else the legislative course will run its way."
