Sheikh Yazbek: Our missiles are there to protect Lebanon
Source: NowLebanon, 11-02-2008
Hizbullah Shura Council member Sheikh Mohamed Yazbek expressed his regret over the "fiery and aggressive statements of pro-government politicians," a reference to MP Walid Jumblatt's statement this weekend in which he said that the majority is ready for war or for peace, depending on the opposition's decision in this regard.
"We reject that the blood of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri is being used to provoke the Lebanese against each other," Yazbek said.
He also praised what he said were the reasonable statements of MP Michel Aoun and Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah during their joint interview broadcast on OTV last week.
"Both men confirmed their commitment to national unity, communal living and rebuilding Lebanon," he said.
Yazbek said that Hizbullah's missiles are there to protect Lebanon and are not directed against the Lebanese, as some are alleging.
"We want participation and are supporting all friendly states during the present crisis. Yet we do not accept that any regional or foreign state intervenes in our internal affairs," he said.
Yazbek said that the US and its pawns are obstructing solutions, especially the Arab imitative.
