Two Killed, Several Wounded in Fresh Tripoli Clashes

The Lebanese National News Agency correspondent in Tripoli reported that the Lebanese Talal Hassoun from Akkar on Saturday died from injuries in the head after being shot in Tripoli's old markets.
On Friday, one person was killed and several others wounded in clashes that erupted between armed men and others from al-Nashar family in Tripoli's surrounding old markets, using machine-guns, hand grenades and rocket-propelled grenades, the NNA correspondent in Tripoli reported.
On this note, The Lebanese Army warned on Friday of a plot to drag Lebanon backwards, shattering a lull of several hours despite a heavy military deployment in the northern city.
"The army command calls on citizens to be wary of plots aimed at taking Lebanon backwards and dragging it into an absurd war," a statement mentioned, adding that it would give an "armed response to any armed action."
"The army command has been trying for several months to work firmly, determinedly and patiently to prevent Lebanon being turned into a battlefield for regional conflicts and to prevent any spillover of the events in Syria," it said.
The statement was considered the firmest ever since the clashes in Tripoli erupted.
