Iran condemned the assassination describing it as an "act of terror which led to the martyrdom of Imad Mognieh, one of the biggest leaders of the Islamic resistance in Lebanon."
Muhammad Ali Husseini, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, said that the assassination was "a clear result and another example of organized crime and international terrorism, practiced by the Zionist state."
Husseini also called for the international prevention of "such crimes by the Zionist state, which clearly defy international resolutions."
In a statement released by the Embassy of Iran in Beirut, Husseini confirmed "the legitimacy of the Resistance against the occupiers."
He added that Mugniyah's assassination was a "golden page in the history of the people's resistance against the Zionist occupation," and that Mugniyah had dedicated his life to facing and fighting "the occupiers."
Husseini paid his condolences to Mugniyah's family and the Lebanese people, particularly "the resistance in Lebanon. All free people in the world will remember the martyr with pride and honor," he concluded.
