Lebanese caretaker Energy Minister Gebran Bassil warned that the Zionist entity gained the technical ability to draw oil and gas from Lebanese territory through the discovery of a new oil well.

Bassil Warns: ’Israel’ Technically Able to Reach Lebanon’s Oil, LA, Resistance Ready to DefendHe further called for an exceptional governmental meeting to address the matter.
Bassil, speaking during a news conference Friday, said "Israel" recently discovered an oil well in Occupied Palestine some four kilometers the Lebanese maritime border, which "practically means "Israel" can reach Lebanon's oil."
However, he assured that "the army and the resistance have the capability to protect them. "

"We won't allow it to encroach on our natural resources," the minister assured.
In parallel, the minister cited horizontal drilling as one possible means "Israel" could access Lebanon's potential oil and gas wealth.
He urged that Lebanon not to tamper with the deadline for tenders.

In this context, Bassil urged President Michel Suleiman and Caretaker Premier Najib Mikati to hold an extraordinary cabinet session to approve two decrees needed to move the oil exploration process forward.

"Lebanon's reputation was at stake," he mentioned.
Moreover, he confirmed that "such a session is politically and constitutionally possible."

"We will coordinate with Suleiman, House Speaker Nabih Berri and Mikati in that regards," Bassil said.
