Iraq: Bombs Kill 80 in Iraq on Eid al-Fitr Festivities

A string of car bombs in several areas of Baghdad killed 57 people and wounded more than 150 on Saturday as people celebrated Eid al-Fitr which marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan fasting.
The 12 separate blasts hit public markets, cafes, and restaurants, killing 27 people overall, while violence earlier on Saturday killed two others, according to security and medical officials.
Outside Baghdad, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb in a car on a busy street in the town of Tuz Khurmato north Baghdad, killing at least 10 people and wounding 45.
The attacks came after another series of blasts hit Baghdad on Tuesday, killing 31 people.
Moreover, car bombs hit Karbala, killing four and wounding 11, and targeted a mosque in the northern city of Kirkuk, killing one worshipper and wounding five.
Elsewhere, three people were killed and five others wounded in separate attacks in Babil and Nineveh provinces.
Another bomb exploded near a police patrol in the northern city of Mosul, killing a young girl, while police killed two militants attempting to plant a bomb.
In the Mussayib area south of Baghdad, a magnetic "sticky bomb" on a bus killed one person and wounded two.
More than 800 people were killed in attacks during the holy month of Ramadan, the deadliest Ramadan in years.
