"Israel" decided on Sunday to free 26 Palestinian prisoners over the next few days ahead of a new round of talks with the Palestinian Authority.

Three senior members of "Israeli" Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet and a panel of security officials agreed to the list of names.

The panel headed by War Minister Moshe Yaalon "approved the release of 26 prisoners," a statement from Netanyahu's office said. Fourteen would be deported or moved to the Gaza Strip and 12 repatriated to the occupied West Bank, it said.
The Zionist entity agreed in principle last month to free 104 prisoners in four stages.

Deputy Palestinian prisoners minister Ziad Abu Ain "welcomed the release of any Palestinian prisoner from Israeli jails", but said they hoped the first to be set free would be the older ones.
"We hope that "Israel" will commit to releasing the rest of the prisoners, and ask and hope the Palestinian side will have a partner to choose the conditions and names of those set to be released."
