Lebanese acting Cassation Prosecutor, Judge Samir Hammoud, headed a meeting in which he briefed the attendees on the preliminary ongoing investigations over the Roweis blast.

Officers of the military police and the Army Intelligence Directorate, forensics and explosive experts attended the meeting which took place in presence of Associate Government Commissioner to the Military Court, Judge Sami Sader.

Investigations revealed that the explosive carried around 60kg of T.N.T. 

The blast caused a hole of 340 cm and 240 cm, claimed the lives of 24 people and wounded 289 persons.

A terrorist explosion rocked Roweis area of the southern Suburb of Beirut on Thursday August 15, resulting in the martyrdom of 17 citizens, the injury of 270 others in addition to major damage in buildings and cars.

A group calling itself the "Brigade of Aisha, the Mother of the Faithful" claimed responsibility for the attack.

On Tuesday the July 9, 53 Lebanese citizens were injured in a car bomb, in a parking lot in the Southern Beirut Suburb, Dahiyeh. The car bomb went off in the parking lot near the Islamic Cooperation Center in the Bir al-Abed area of Dahiyeh.
