Qahwaji Warns of Security Situation: LA Facing Terrorism

Lebanese Army [LA] Commander General Jean Qahwaji unveiled Wednesday that the LA has been chasing a terrorist cell for blasting booby-trapped cars inside civilian areas.
He further clarified that Roweiss car is one of these booby-trapped cars.
"They are agitating sectarian strife through carrying out attacks in various parts of our countries, based on sectarian distribution," he added.
During a ceremony to commemorate the retired LA officers, Qahwaji assured that the LA faces great challenges, particularly extremists."
"We are waging a war on terrorism," he said, and noted that "the war against terrorism has no relation to political or media dispute."
In parallel, the head of the military institution warned that "the situation is dangerous."
"The attacks they were planning could target any region in Lebanon regardless of its sectarian identity," he stated.
Moreover, he urged all political sides to support the army in its tasks.
"We will not stop before any intimidation or explosion," he vowed, pointing out that "the security forces, in cooperation with political authorities, are exerting efforts to apprehend the members of the terrorist cell."
"The war on terror is an international and regional one taking place in coordination with friendly intelligence agencies," Qahwaji said.
