The Islamic Republic of Iran and six major world powers are set to start shortly a new round of talks on the country's nuclear energy program.

known as the P5+1 - the United States, Russia, France, Britain, China and Germany - will meet for two days of negotiations in Geneva with Iran, on November 7 and 8 to discuss Tehran's civilian nuclear activities.

The Iranian delegation arrived in Geneva on Wednesday to hold consultations prior to the talks.
Iran, World Powers Set to Start Nuclear TalksIran's Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said Wednesday that Iran will enter into talks with seriousness, expressing hope for substantial progress in the discussions.
The senior Iranian diplomat added that the representatives of Iran and the six countries will hold talks on the content of Tehran's proposal tabled during the previous round of the negotiations in Geneva.
Iran's Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif will lead the Iranian negotiating team while the delegation of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, will be headed by EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton.

On this note, Chief Spokesperson to Ashton,
Michael Mann, has said he expects a ‘serious' and ‘complicated' negotiations in Geneva.

According to Mehr News correspondent, Hamed Nematollahi, the talks would be limited to Iran's nuclear program.

Asked about Iran and P5+1 negotiation agenda, Mann said the agenda would be examining Iran's nuclear program and an attempt to push the negotiations forward.

Mann added "We and Iran have agreed to keep the details confidential in order to be focused on it. The negotiations will be only about Iran's nuclear program. It is still unclear whether Mr. Zarif and Mrs. Ashton would meet in the sidelines of the talks. It depends much on circumstances after the negotiations."

Earlier this week, Iran's top nuclear negotiator, Foreign Minister Javad Zarif, said reaching a framework deal is "possible this week."

Zarif said recent talks with the UN nuclear watchdog, the IAEA, had been positive, as had a meeting between technical experts to prepare for the talks in Geneva.
The talks getting under way in Geneva are the second such encounter since Hassan Rohani took office as president of Iran in August. He has since pushed for the lifting of sanctions and for improving relations with the West.

Tehran has repeatedly assured it is using its nuclear program for peaceful and civilian purposes only.
