LA Dismantles Car Bomb Heading to Beirut

A unit of engineers from the Lebanese Armed Forces defused Friday, at dawn, a car bomb found on the northern Bekaa road set to explode in Beirut, loaded with 500 kilograms of TNT and other explosive materials.

The car, a black 4x4 Buick carrying the license plate 401907/G with bullet marks on its tires and left pane.

Sources reported the car was uncovered in the Jraideh area. It was accompanied by another car as it crossed between Maqneh and Younin, where the armed gang clashed with unidentified persons and then left the car and ran away.
