One person was killed and at least five others wounded during renewed clashes in Tripoli that intensified.
As the northern city entered its fifth day of fighting, Omar Sammak died from his wounds after being shot by a sniper, bringing the total death toll to seven during the latest round of clashes.
According to residents of Baal Darwish, Sammak was taking drinking water to Army members when he was hit.
The total number of wounded is now over 60 after more than five were sustained injuries during the day's fighting.
Tuesday saw continuous sniper fire, with some reaching the main highway linking Tripoli to Akkar, as well as Syria Street, Souk al-Kameh, Souk al-Khoudar, Starco, Baal Darwishe and Malloula.
In pursuit of gunmen, the Lebanese Army, backed by officers from the Internal Security Forces, redeployed early Tuesday on Syria Street, the line that separates the warring Tripoli neighborhoods of Jabal Mohsen and Bab al-Tabbaneh, as well as in Zahriyeh and Bab al-Ramel.
The Army suffered the greatest number of wounded Tuesday after one of its tanks was targeted in Starco. It reported several casualties among its ranks, saying one of them was in serious condition.
Tensions were high Tuesday across the northern city, with schools and universities remaining closed and only a select few shops choosing to keep their businesses open in certain areas.
Yet, reassured by the reinforced presence of the Lebanese Army, many residents were also able to leave their homes to buy food and other essentials.
Separately Tuesday, Syrian national Mahmkoud Hussein Sabaka was shot in the legs by unknown assailants at the Salam roundabout in the southern part of Tripoli. He was robbed of his money and his mobile phone.
