’Israel’ Martyrs Gaza Youth

"Israeli" troops martyred a Palestinian man on Friday and wounded another in a cross-border attack with protesters in the Gaza Strip, Palestinian hospital officials said.
Bilal Samir Oweida, 20, was martyred after being "shot in the chest by "Israeli" soldiers" east of Jabaliya, in northern Gaza, said Ashraf al-Qidra, a health ministry spokesperson said.
Owiedah was part of a group of Palestinians who had gathered near the border to protest the buffer zone imposed by the Zionist entity, Qidra said.
Another young man was moderately wounded in the same incident, he said.
The shooting occurred as tensions ran high after "Israeli" forces killed two young Palestinians in a Gaza air strike on Wednesday.
In early January, "Israeli" soldiers shot dead a Palestinian youth, who the occupation forces accused of "vandalizing" the fence in the same area.
With Friday's killings, seven Palestinians including a three-year-old girl were martyred in Gaza by "Israeli" forces since December 20.
According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs [OCHA], "Israel" allows "civilian access on foot to areas up to 100 meters from the perimeter fence for agricultural purposes only, and vehicular access to a distance of 300 meters."
However, some "buffer zones" can extend up to 1500 meters into the Strip, turning local farms into no-go zones, Ma'an news agency noted.
OCHA reported that 17 percent of Gaza's total land area and 35 percent of its agricultural land were within the buffer zone as of 2010, directly affecting the lives and livelihoods of more than 100,000 Gazans.
In a separate incident, "Israeli" naval forces detained two Palestinian fishermen after setting their boat on fire, Hamas-run Interior Ministry of Gaza said.
A spokeswoman for the occupation said she was checking that report.
