Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi stressed that the battle Syria is engaged in fighting the international terrorism does only determine Syria's destiny but rather the whole region's fate.

Al-Zoubi : Battle against Terrorism Determines Region’s Destiny, Presidential Elections on TimeIn an interview with Lebanese al-Manar TV, al-Zoubi said that what is taking place in Syria is a direct confrontation between the Syrian state and people on the one hand and international terrorist groupings such as al-Qaeda on the other.

He further added that the volume of the Gulf-Turkish-Western involvement in this war has become clear through the political coverage and financial, military and intelligence support to them.

The Minister said that the blurry image that was common in the beginning of aggression on Syria has vanished, as the reality has become crystal clear to all.

"The aggressor states on Syria were working on undermining the Syrian state in the beginning, while now they are working on depleting it...but the Syrian state, army and people will continue to counter terrorism and carry out all the constitutional entitlements including the presidential elections, which will be held on time and with better conditions," al-Zoubi continued to say.

In parallel, he highlighted that the presidential elections do not contradict what has been included in Geneva Communiqué, pointing out that "the UN Envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi has not read the Communiqué, as he has not been an honest broker; nevertheless, we have not objected on his presumption of performing his role."

Al-Zoubi noted that Brahimi's statements on a contradiction between Geneva and the presidential entitlement confirms his adoption of the US-Turkish-Qatari viewpoint that aims at undermining the Syrian state.

He denied any communications with Qatar due to considerations he described as ethical, saying "ethical, humane, nationalistic and pan-Arab considerations of the Syrian leadership that fall under the title 'we will not sell the blood of the Syrian martyrs ... each one who takes part in killing the Syrians will pay for that' makes it reject any communications with Qatar."
