The so-called "Free Sunnis of Baalbek" Brigades claimed responsibility for the ambush.
Later, the National News agency reported that Syrian warplanes effectuated today a raid on Ras Wadi Taher region in the outskirts of Arsal, where Syrian gunmen are intensively deployed.
It also mentioned that the Lebanese Army arrested four Syrians in the region of Rahwa in Arsal.
Separately, three rockets fired from Arsal's outskirts landed on al-Nabi Othman's plain and al-Labweh in northern Bekaa in the evening.
On Monday, the army arrested a Syrian sarmed groups commander in the border town of Arsal, which is witnessing along with other Bekaa towns an unprecedented security plan.
Arsal attacks, including suicide bombings, on army targets have increased in recent months in Arsal and other parts of the country.
