Syrians Abroad Choose Their President: Shocking High Turnout

Due to the high turnout, the Higher Judicial Committee for Elections extended voting time in all Syrian Embassies where elections are held by five hours May 28th.

In Lebanon, thousands of Syrians citizens have been flocking to the Syrian embassy in Beirut [Yarze] on Thursday to elect a president for their country.

Syria's Ambassador in Beirut Ali Abdulkarim told journalists that the turnout is high, as the number of voters is expected to hit tens of thousands, adding that those who could not vote, have another opportunity on 3rd of June to vote in the border cross points centers.
Photographs of roads leading to the Syrian embassy in the town of Yarzeh showed traffic jams and crowds of pedestrians heading to the polls in the morning.
Meanwhile, news channels estimated that at least 100,000 people had gathered near the embassy for the occasion.

By midday, all the entrances to the Lebanese capital were blocked, causing long tailbacks, as thousands of Syrians descended on the embassy, mostly by foot.
In addition to Moscow, China, Japan, Jordan and other countries scores of Syrian citizens headed to their county's Embassy, in order to practice their right in choosing a president to Syria.

Syria's Ambassador in China Imad Mustafa stated that holding the elections is a victory in and of itself, adding that who wins the elections is not important because what really matters is that the Syrian state is present and adherent to the new constitution and will never permit a constitutional vacuum.
Whereas, UAE, France, Germany and Belgium have prohibited the holding of expat Syrian elections on its territory.

On June 3, the presidential election will begin in Syria, with a widely expected vote to give Syrian President Bashar al-Assad a third seven-year term in office.
