Iranian President Hassan Rouhani stressed that the Iranian administration will firmly defend the country's nuclear rights and bring an end to the West's illegal sanctions, as he said one day ahead of the new round of nuclear talks due to begin on Wednesday.
In a ceremony marking the 25th anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Revolution His Eminence Imam Ruhollah Khomeini on Tuesday, Rouhani said, "...in foreign policy, we will manage to both defend [our] nuclear rights and break the chains of illegal sanctions."
"Undoubtedly, nuclear energy, progress and development, science, influence in the region and across the world, and unity are the absolute rights of the great Iranian nation," he added.
Rouhani further pointed to regional developments in recent years, including the US-led attack on Iraq and Afghanistan and enemies' plots against Lebanon, occupied Palestine and Syria, saying the country should choose the path of prudence and resistance.
Rouhani's remarks came as Iran and the P5+1 countries- United States, China, Russia, France and Britain - plus Germany are set to resume expert-level nuclear talks in the Austrian capital of Vienna on Wednesday.
