’Israel’ Arrests 51 Former Palestinian Prisoners
Local Editor
The "Israeli" army has rearrested 51 former Palestinian prisoners.
"Israeli" Army spokesman Lt. Col. Peter Lerner said Wednesday that the 51 were among more than 65 Palestinians detained overnight "in the search for the three "Israelis"" previously missed in the occupied West Bank.
The 51 were part of a group of 1,027 Palestinians released in 2011 from "Israeli" prisons in exchange for an "Israeli" soldier captured by Gaza resistance.
Lerner said that since the disappearance, a total of 240 Palestinians have been arrested in the West Bank.
Meanwhile, "Israeli" Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu praised the "Israeli" security services for their overnight arrests of dozens of Palestinians.
"I wish to extend my congratulations to the troops and commanders of the "Israeli" army and the "Israel" Security Agency [Shin Bet] for the complex operations that they carried out overnight," Netanyahu tweeted on his Twitter account.
He further added: "The operation overnight in which Hamas "terrorists" were arrested, including those released in the prisoner swap for Gilad Schalit, is an element that carries with it an important message."
