Hamas launched a new unmanned aerial vehicle towards southern "Israel" from the seized Gaza Strip on Monday morning, as resistance fighters continued to fire rockets on "Israeli" cities and towns in response to the Zionist aggression.

The UAV infiltration attempt caused Code Red sirens to blare in the Ashdod area. Code Red was sounded in Ashkelon, Ashdod, Netivot, Hof Ashkelon, and Sdot Negev Regional Council.

"Israeli" Navy forces were deployed to the area, searching for remnants of the drone, apparently laden with explosives, which was intercepted over an area near the Ashdod coast.

On Sunday afternoon, Hamas struck further into the heart of "Israel" than ever before, when it fired a rocket that hit near Haifa - some 150km from the seized Gaza Strip.

Hamas also claimed responsibility for the rocket fire on the Tel Aviv metropolitan area, saying it launched a Fajr-5 rocket at Rishon LeZion, three M-75 rockets at Tel Aviv and one R-160 rocket.

Moreover, despite intensified "Israeli" military action - which included a commando raid overnight on Sunday - Palestinians continued to launch rockets across the border.
Giving details of the raid, an "Israeli" military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Peter Lerner, said four members of the force were wounded in skirmishes with Gaza gunmen.

Hamas said its resistance fighters had fired at the "Israeli" force offshore, preventing them from landing. Lerner meanwhile said the forces had "completed their mission."

A long-range burst on Sunday triggered air raid sirens and sent people running for shelter at Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion Airport, which has not been struck in the hostilities and where flights have been operating normally, and some city suburbs.
